Psychological Effects Of Hearing Loss

WITHDRAWAL

A person with hearing loss will withdraw from outside activities. As the hearing loss progresses the more one withdraws from the outside world and contact with others.
ANGER FRUSTRATION STRESS Resulting from an inability to understand others which will severely limit your ability to function.
SUSPICION OF OTHERS

When with others a person with hearing loss will often assume that other people are talking about them behind their back because of their inability to hear or understand.
INDECISION

A person with hearing loss can become very indecisive, often pushing off decisions onto other family members, or worse, making no decisions at all. Again, this is due to their inability to hear and/or understand others.
PERCEPTION OF INTENT

The only positive aspect of a hearing loss. While a hearing impaired person is taking in speech clues through the eyes they are, subconsciously, also taking in a persons body language. Hearing impaired people can become excellent judges of character.
